FAQ

What can I compost?

Vegetable & fruit scraps, coffee grounds and filters, houseplant trimmings, brown paper bags, newspapers, eggshells, straw, leaves, dryer lint, and a few other things.

How often do you pick up material?

I pick up your bin of scraps once per week.

How much material can I compost each week?

About 4 gallons, but there is some wiggle room and there are additional fees for folks to create more scraps.

What do you do with my scraps?

I lovingly manage scraps by placing them in a heap. I add red wigglers, give it water when needed, and maintain balance so it turns into dark, loamy material ideal for growing plants!

What the heck is composting anyway?

The EPA has this to say: "Compost is organic material that can be added to soil to help plants grow. Food scraps and yard waste together currently make up about 30 percent of what we throw away, and should be composted instead. Making compost keeps these materials out of landfills where they take up space and release methane, a potent greenhouse gas."

In short, composting saves the Earth and makes it easier for you to grow things.

Can I purchase finished compost to use?

No, sorry, only current customers get finished compost as part of their subscription.
